A group of eusocial insects that are classified within the taxonomic rank of infraorder Isoptera, or as epifamily Termitoidae within the cockroach order Blattodea, known as termites. They are part of the larger phylum of arthropods, characterized by their exoskeletons and segmented bodies. Despite being invertebrates, they share certain ecological roles with amphibians, such as participating in nutrient cycling. All these species belong to the broadest biological classification of animals.
