Renaissance Architecture refers to the architectural style that was developed during the period of the Early and High Renaissance in different regions of Europe, particularly in Italy, between the early 14th and late 16th centuries. It is characterized by symmetry, proportion, geometry, and the regularity of parts as they are demonstrated in the architecture of classical antiquity and in particular, ancient Roman architecture. The architectural designs also incorporate the use of columns, pilasters, pediments, arches, domes, and niches. It marks a conscious revival and development of certain elements of ancient Greek and Roman architectural thought and material culture.
